About the Model

What is the CSEA Recovery Model?

The CSEA Recovery Model is a structured, holistic, and evidence-informed recovery framework. It is designed to empower individuals experiencing schizophrenia and severe mental health challenges to rebuild their lives far beyond clinical diagnostics.

Unlike traditional psychiatric approaches that focus solely on symptom reduction and compliance, CSEA shifts the paradigm toward active recovery, narrative transformation, and social empowerment.

Founded on Dr. Lavanya's unique intersection of lived experience, academic research, and global mental health advocacy, the model works by reclaiming agency and training individuals to become leaders in their own recovery process and their wider communities.

Beyond Diagnosis

Focusing on human potential rather than clinical labels or deficits.

Peer-Led Leadership

From being defined by diagnosis to defining a movement.

The CSEA model emerged through lived experience, rigorous inquiry, and a refusal to accept hopelessness as a permanent identity. Dr. Lavanya's work reframes recovery as an active, dignified, and teachable pathway.

Her advocacy centers the person behind the diagnosis, restoring agency through story, skill building, community belonging, and leadership activation.
